Williamsport Digital Promotion is a Hit!
Williamsport, Pennsylvania – November 18, 2008
Richard C. James, graphic designer and newspaper columnist, is pleased to announce the success of a digital animated presentation that he created for the Williamsport Main Street Program. “It’s gone viral!” James exclaims.
Originally designed to showcase the multi-faceted lifestyle of Williamsport and surrounding areas to potential downtown business owners, the short “video-like” animation has taken on a life of its own. Local businesses have added the presentation to their websites to advertise the wondrous attributes of North Central Pennsylvania.
Mr. James, who is chairman of the Promotion Committee of the Williamsport Main Street Program and a member of Our Towns 2010 Board of Directors, is surprised by the interest in the “slideshow”. He says that he is happy that it has become so popular. At its peak, the file on his website has been getting several hundred hits per day.
“It’s like a Power Point slide show, only better,” James says, “but you’ll need the Flash plug-in to view the file in your Internet browser.”
The presentation begins with an odd question, “What is Williamsport?” Then it answers the question by displaying a series of images that Williamsporters take for granted. Richard James who is an amateur photographer took all the photos used in the presentation.
So far, the file has been distributed to two other sites free of charge. James explains, “The main purpose is to get the word out that Williamsport is a great place to live and raise a family.”
The entire world can view the presentation on James’ website at www.rcjamesdesign.net/williamsport/williamsport_is.html or it can be seen on realtor’s Chris Wallace’s website at http://www.williamsportpahomes.com/ and most recently, it can be seen on Larson Design Group’s website at http://www.larsondesigngroup.com/williampsort_is.asp .
“It is really exciting to get such recognition especially after the success of the Governor’s Arts Award festivities,” James says. The 2008 Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Pennsylvania was held in Williamsport on November 12th. He hopes the momentum continues to build because, as his animated presentation declares, “Williamsport is the place to be!”
