Get ready for another CAPPA Showcase
Be there or be square...

Get Ready for the CAPPA Showcase 2008.

Moving right along…

The CAPPA Showcase theme in 2005 was “Believe In YOU!” It was held at the Williamsport High School.

Then came other themes for the children to direct their talents. Other CAPPA Showcase themes focused on “Raising Expectations!” of our kids in 2006 and “Knowledge is POWER” in 2007.

Last year’s show was performed in the grandly renovated Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. CAC had just installed a new sound system that made the music rich and substantial to the ear.

This year’s theme is “Every Kind of People”. Which underscores the purpose of CAPPA’s entertaining musical extravaganza, inclusiveness. Children from all over Williamsport, and beyond, participate in the show. From the stagehands to the ushers to the singers and dancers onstage, all the children learn to work together.

From the very beginning, the shows were videotaped for later broadcast on local cable TV. Each year the showcase gets better and better. Each performance is a learning experience from which to build on.

Although some of the original kids have graduated from high school and moved on, there are still some old favorites that will do their thing. And of course, there are newcomers in the CAPPA cast and crew.

Each CAPPA Showcase is unique. Loni Gamble, CAPPA’s Executive Director, Eileen Harley, Bruce White, Beatrice Gamble and others oversee that the presentation is fresh and interesting. Each year we are presented with a surprise. Last year, 30 fifth graders from the neighboring town of Muncy were invited to join in the massive finale.

Each year we see the awful statistics on the news. Violent acts involving children, across the country, seem to escalate and intensify. But CAPPA intends to reverse those numbers and the CAPPA Showcase is more than a talent show. It is a proactive deterrent against kids making bad choices.

CAPPA builds confidence, character. It teaches commitment and determination. The Showcase allows our kids to literally shine in the spotlight of personal excellence. The children’s self-esteem gets a big boost and that “can-do” attitude spills over into other areas of their lives.

Please support CAPPA. This year’s showcase will again be held at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport at 6 pm on June 21, 2008. (Doors open at 5 pm) Admission is just 5 dollars. Come out and help save our children. And enjoy the show! For more information call 326-7700 or email CAPPA at cappa@comcast.net.
