THE TOP STORY
The Other American History
For African-Americans the nation's birthday is an interesting mixture of pride and pain.

Exploiting Africans as chattel slavery had been a standard practice on these shores since the 1600's. The institution of slavery predates the United States. The mythology of black inferiority and white superiority has been engrained into the DNA of America. But brave voices rose up to speak against the barbaric injustices. Frederick Douglass spoke a rude truth about African-Americans' ambivalance towards the 4th of July. For more click here.

The Emmett Till Bill (HR923)
While there isn't a statute of limitation on MURDER, it is not a federal offense. Local law enforcement agencies have the jusidiction but not the resources to follow leads of unsolved Civil Rights murders.

The Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act will allow the U.S. Justice Dept. to investigate cold cases that are over 40 years old. For more click here.
